William Sears was my great great grandfather. We are decended from his son Albert Freeman Sears. we have been trying to find information on him also. Town records give his age as 78 years at the time of his death in 1888, but his place of birth is listed as Princeton, Me., New Brunswick. Montreal? My great grandfather's death cert lists his birth place as Princeton, Me. I never heard my grandfather mention Canada until right before he died, when he said some of the family came from there. His sister (y great aunt Edith had done a lot of research on his family, even going to Canada where she met people who knew the Sears family. But that had to be 60 years ago and all her files disappeared when her apartment was cleaned out. we know she told our grandfather, unfortuantly he died before we learned anything.Although Montreal sounds right. A lot of her information came from her father Albert Sears. William Sears' son. there is a cemetary in Monson on a hill that has a lot of Sears buried there. Next June I plan on taking a ride up there, haven't been there in many years. Albert Sears moved to Waldoboro, maine in 1899 and is buried there.

I stumbled on your site and love reading about my ancestors! I am the daughter of Peter Templeton who is the son of Hubert and grandson of Fred (the canoe bulder). I still have some of the decals that he used to apply to canoes he built. I also have a large ornate picture frame that Hubert had in his house that used to have a picture that I cannot quite recall who it was. I recently asked my dad (Peter) if he remembered and he thought it was either Ruth or a pic of him and another as a little boy. If you are back in the Greenville area be sure to look up Pete! He has a little shop behind his house where he builds model ships and all the steam ships that were at one time on Moosehead Lake. He is just up the road from the Historical Society.

Just discovered your wonderful blog. And discovered that I am related to your wife. Angie Stiles was my 3rd cousin 3 times removed. I am further linked through her mother, Matilda Jane Estabrooks (my maternal grandmother was an Estabrooks). Thank you for sharing your story. It's nice to have a few more bits of info added to my own genealogical puzzle.

I look forward to reading even more,

March 7th 2012

Hi

I am the Church Archivist of Saffron Walden Baptist Church Saffrion Walden Essex, England
living at
35 Four Acres Saffron Walden Essex CB11 3JD England UK
of which Church I have been a member since 1955, and Archivist since 1974

My late mother Alice who died in 2003 aged 98 recalls being a member of Amy Gertrude Rollason's Sunday school teacher's preparation class when Mum was 16, about 1918.
My father Sydney was chauffeur to Edward William Trew, Church Treasurer, husband of Nellie Irene Rollason I too was Church Treasurer in the 1977-1983 period when we re-organised the old 18th century chapel that Alfred had made into a purpose built Sunday School. The classrooms are now an enlarged entrance hall with a lift, and offices for the Administrator and the Minister, We had a second floor put in for our youth organisations. The whole complex has in recent weeks been redecorated.

I have been working on the Rollason family for a couple who attended a recent funeral service who have in their possession the birth certificate of Harold Rollason - Herbert Duncan's older brother Why they have it we don't yet know. Maybe they are related.

The chapel built by their father Rev Aflred Rollason still stands although in 2004 we had the interior completely redesigned, getting rid of the 1879 pews and pulpit, sending the Organ off on quite a journey to where it is now played in a Roman Catholic church in a village in Bavaria, the communion furniture went to a church on the Essex coast, at Walton on the Naze, and now we use comfortable chairs from the USA imported through a Scottish firm. The original casting on the gallery rail casted by Alfred still exists and a hymn book trolley commemorates Amy Gertrude.

The Church has 102 members with a Diaconate of 12, about 80 regular non-members, 45 of them very active, about 30 children and 12 teenagers, plus a Boys' Brigade Company.
We are currentky seeking our 19th pastor

The Audley Road Manse Herbert was born in was sold in 1968 and a new one bought on the outskirts of town, but the present owner of the old Manse is a retired Anglican C of E missionary to Zambia.

Thank you for the information here.

Our church history story is on www.lthopm.proboards.com or on http://lhpm.proboards.com or via the Church Web site www.sw-bc.org

Kind regards

Marian,
I was on a rather tight schedule, so I had to use what I knew how to do, even though it is so "Rube Goldberg - like

1) Made the map with pins in Google Maps
2) Did a screen capture and pasted image into Word
3) Cropped image, expanded to fit page and then used draw features to add text and arrows.
4) Printed to PDF. Used the "Take a Snapshot" tool in Adobe Reader (to get one jpeg combined image)
5) Pasted image into Photoshop - adjusted size for web
6) Placed it in blog post.

I'm sure that there are easier ways! I need to take some time to learn how to do more in Photoshop and other applications!
